Buff-breasted Sandpipers

It is the right time of year for Buff-breasted Sandpipers on Kiawah Island. If you're in search of these medium-sized, "dove-headed" sandpipers, look no further than the driving range at the Ocean Course golf course. For the past several years, Buff-breasted Sandpipers have been spotted foraging on the driving range during the latter parts of September and early October.
While you're out on the range, check the fence posts for American Kestrels and Loggerhead Shrikes, and keep your eyes peeled for Peregrine Falcons that may be in the area hunting shorebirds.
